Best e-signature for AI agents
Most large e-signature vendors now have an MCP server, so the useful question is what stops an agent from sending a contract on its own, and docuinked is the one we know of that enforces a named person's approval of the exact draft on the server.
How we picked
An MCP server lets an AI agent such as Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor call a product's tools. In 2026 that alone no longer sets a tool apart. One comparison calls MCP table stakes. So we looked at three things: whether there is a server, how it is reached, and what the vendor says about an agent sending without a person. Facts come from pages read on 2026-11-07, and several come from a third-party roundup dated 2026-07-29 and 2026-09-06, marked below.
Who has an MCP server
| Tool | MCP server | Notes from the source |
|---|---|---|
| Docusign | Yes, generally available, reported from 2026-09-30 | Hosted, 42 tools. Its post says custom agents and scheduled jobs must build their own approval step |
| signNow | Yes, from 2026-03-18 (search summary) | |
| SignWell | Yes, listed on all plans | A local package, per its npm listing |
| BoldSign | Yes | Hosted per region, sends from templates only |
| DocuSeal | Yes | Hosted, with one-click links |
| PandaDoc | Yes | Official server |
| Adobe Acrobat Sign, Dropbox Sign, Zoho Sign | None found as of 2026-07-29 (third party) | |
| docuinked | Yes | Hosted, one URL, OAuth or a Bearer key. No signing tool at all |
What actually differs: who can press send
An agent that can call "send" can email a contract to anyone. A prompt that tells it to be careful is a suggestion, not a control. Here is how the approaches differ.
- Approval left to you. Docusign's own post says custom agents and scheduled jobs must build their own approval step. Its server is the widest in reach, and it is built for people who already run Docusign.
- Limits by shape. BoldSign's server sends from templates only, which narrows what an agent can put in front of a signer.
- Approval on the server. In docuinked, every MCP caller counts as an agent, whatever key it holds. A live
send_documentreturns anapproval_urlinstead of sending. A named, signed-in person approves the draft, and the approval is bound to adraft_hashthat covers the PDF bytes, the signers and every field. Change anything and the approval is refused. There is no approve endpoint in the API, so no key can approve its own request. See approvals.
Other things an agent builder needs
- A test mode the agent can finish alone. docuinked test keys send no email and show the same approval step as live.
simulate_approval,simulate_signerand magic addresses such assign@test.docuinked.comlet an eval run end to end. See test mode. - Retries that don't repeat work. Write calls take an
Idempotency-Key. - One install line. Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Codex, Claude and ChatGPT each connect with a line or a URL. See the MCP server.
Where others are better
- Your company already runs Docusign. Its MCP server plugs into the account, templates and admin you have, and your counterparties know the name.
- You need an EU qualified signature from an agent flow. We don't offer one.
- You need volume today. Our beta cap is 100 live sends a day per account.
- You need audit reports. We have none yet.

Common questions
Can an AI agent sign a contract for me?
Not in docuinked. There is no signing tool, and agents can't get live signing links. Whether an agent may sign on someone's behalf is a legal question about authority, and we chose to keep signing with people. Read signing from an AI agent.
Does ChatGPT work with e-signature MCP servers?
It can add a custom MCP server on the web, but OpenAI limits full MCP to some plans, so check yours. The same docuinked URL works in Claude, Cursor and the others.
What should a person check before approving an agent's draft?
The signer's name and email, the amounts and dates, and that the PDF is the one you expect. The approval page shows the draft exactly as the server holds it, so you read what will be sent.
Is a human approval step slow for agents?
It adds one click per send. An approval lasts 24 hours, and the agent can wait for the approval.approved webhook. For fixed templates sent by your own server, a "Sends directly" key skips it.
