# Contractor agreements at scale

If you bring on contractors every week, the agreement is a queue, not a project. Your system should send it, and the signed record should come back to your system with no one chasing.

## What makes contractors different

Contractors arrive in batches, often on a phone, and often from a sign-up form instead of a hiring tool. Each one needs the same document with a few fields changed. Months later, someone may ask what that person agreed to and when. So the record is what you are really collecting.

## The flow

1. A new contractor finishes your intake form.
2. Your system fills the agreement and calls `create_document`, with the contractor as signer and a "Sends directly" key if the document is fixed.
3. The contractor signs on the hosted page, which works on a phone.
4. `document.completed` marks them cleared to start.
5. You store the sealed PDF and `evidence` with their profile.

## Consumer disclosure

The signing page shows an electronic records disclosure by default. A contractor signing for their own business may not need it, but when in doubt, leave it on. It is a short extra step that shows the signer agreed to go electronic and could open a PDF. Your lawyer can tell you when `consumer_disclosure: false` is right.

## Check the document first

Some documents can't be signed this way in some places. Wills and court papers are clear examples, but a contractor agreement normally isn't one. Worker classification is a separate question from signing, and a good signature won't fix a bad contract. We are a tool, not your lawyer.

## Common questions

### Can a contractor refuse to sign electronically?

Yes. The signing page has both a decline path and a request-paper path. Each is logged and you are told, so you can follow up another way.

### Does the contractor get a copy?

Yes. Every signer is emailed the signed PDF. Never rely on a signer asking you for it.

### Can I send one agreement to fifty people?

Each person needs their own document, so make one call per contractor. During the beta, live sends are capped at 100 a day per account. Write to us if that gets in your way.
